Identify the cause
Examine your home and see if you can identify the cause of the mould. The cause could, for example, be water damage, malfunctioning ventilation ducts, or perhaps you have furniture placed too close to cold exterior walls.
You should also consider whether there is adequate ventilation. Avoid drying laundry indoors; instead, use a condenser tumble dryer or extractor fan. Make sure you turn on the fan and ventilate well while cooking or showering.
Moisture could also result from flaws in the building’s construction. Dampness might be penetrating from the outside. As soon as you have pinpointed the cause of the mould issue, you need to repair the damage and/or adjust any poor habits.

Remove the mould
For extensive mould damage, you should contact professionals for advice and recommendations for actions. Use a specialised company with the appropriate expertise.
For minor mould deposits, you can clean the area yourself and disinfect using Protox Hysan or another fungicidal cleaning agent.
Check the mould has gone
Carefully check that you have carried out the above repairs/changes and that the mould has disappeared. We recommend that you conduct a new indicator test to ensure that the mould is truly gone.
If you haven’t addressed the root cause of the issue, it will only be a matter of time before the mould returns again.
